Pantsir-S systems deter mock enemy's fighter jets, cruise missiles during drill near Saratov

SAMARA. March 4 (Interfax) - Pantsir-S air defense artillery and missile systems from an air defense formation of the Russian Central Military District have protected a convoy of S-400 Triumph air defense missile systems from a mock airstrike during an exercise near Saratov, the district press service said.

According to the exercise scenario, the units on duty detected hostile aircraft in the airspace of the region.

"S-400 missile systems headed to new position areas, while Pantsir-S air defense missile and artillery systems deterred strikes by hostile fighter jets and cruise missiles. More than 40 targets were detected on distances of over ten kilometers and destroyed," the press service said.

The protection of military hardware in the process of being loaded onto flatcars was also part of the exercise.

More than 100 pieces of military hardware and about 300 servicemen from an air defense formation of the Central Military District took part in the exercise, the press service said.
