IOC recommendations to indefinitely ban Russian athletes made in gross violation of principles of int'l Olympic movement - ROC

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) will help defend the rights of Russian athletes hurt by the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) recommendations to remove them from all competitions, ROC's press service said in a statement on Thursday.

"The ROC executive board finds that the actions in question are unfounded and discriminatory against Russian athletes and non-governmental sport organizations," ROC said.

"The recommendations issued by IOC on February 25 and 28, 2022, and the decisions to ban Russian athletes indefinitely from taking part in international events adopted by colleagues from international organizations constitute, in our view, a gross violation of the principles of the international Olympic movement," it said.
