Humanitarian catastrophe looming in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol, Sumy - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - A humanitarian catastrophe is looming in Kyiv and some other big Ukrainian cities, head of the Russian National Defense Control Center Mikhail Mizintsev said.

"The reason for the emergency meeting is the looming humanitarian catastrophe in Mariupol, a city with half-a-million people, as well as the looming humanitarian catastrophe in Kyiv with a population of about 3 million, Kharkiv with a population of up to 1.5 million, Sumy with a population of up to 300,000, and some other populated localities," Mizintsev said at a meeting of the interagency coordination headquarters for humanitarian response in Ukraine.

"The outrageous terrorist attacks of Ukrainian nationalists cause just indignation," he said.
