Peskov extends condolences to families, friends of soldiers fallen in military operation in Donbas

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - The Kremlin offers condolences to the families and friends of soldiers fallen in the military operation in Donbas, says this is a great tragedy and believes that the feat of the military will go down in history.

Journalists asked Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to comment on the president's reaction to the reports on Russian casualties in the military operation.

"We react like everyone else. We are grieving. Of course, we extend our condolences to everyone who has lost their husbands or children. Of course, this is a great tragedy for all of us. At the same time, we admire the heroism of our servicemen and have no doubt that their feat will go down in history - the feat of fighting Nazis, may be said, and the fulfillment of this important, responsible mission," Peskov said.

Asked whether Russia would declare national mourning, he said: "I cannot answer that question."
