Ukraine's losses exceed 2,800 dead nationalists, troops - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian operation in Ukraine has left 2,870 of its troops and nationalists dead and around 3,700 injured, the Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.

"Among Ukrainian nationalists and military servicemen, losses stand at over 2,870 dead and around 3,700 injured," Konashenkov told a briefing on Wednesday.

"According to confirmed data alone, the number of captured Ukrainian troops stands at 572," he said.

Also, "498 Russian troops have been killed in the line of duty" and "1,597 of our comrades have been injured," Konashenkov said.

"The allegations spread by many Western and some Russian media outlets, about 'countless;' losses of the Russian grouping are deliberate disinformation," he said.

The families of dead Russian soldiers are being provided with all possible assistance, the official said.
