EU prohibits co-investment with RDIF except under agreements signed before March 2

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The European Union, as part of the latest package of sanctions imposed against Russia, has prohibited co-investment with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), though there are exceptions regarding contracts signed prior to the restrictions being introduced, and the corresponding decision has been published in the Official Journal of the EU.

"It is prohibited to invest, participate in or otherwise contribute to projects co-financed by the RDIF," according to the document.

Separately, it is stipulated that the "competent authorities" may allow, on terms that they deem appropriate, investments with the RDIF if the obligations arise from agreements signed before March 2, 2022.

The RDIF earlier this week was included in the Unites States' and Great Britain's respective sanctions lists. The RDIF's funds have been frozen.
