New stage of capital amnesty to include possibility of legalizing cash and derivatives - Mishustin

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian government intends to launch a new, fourth stage of capital amnesty by expanding the list of assets subject to legalization to include cash and derivatives, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a Cabinet meeting.

"The government will help businesses protect their assets amid a sharp increase in political pressure abroad, where a hunt for Russian assets has been announced. The latest news only confirms this. A new stage of capital amnesty will be launched, it will be the fourth in a row and even more extensive in terms of conditions than the previous one," he said.

In addition to the parameters applied during the third phase, the possibility of declaring cash will also be added, Mishustin said. The term "financial assets" will also replace securities alone in the law. "That is, it will be possible to legalize not only shares or bonds, but also, for example, derivative financial instruments - these are futures contracts, options and others," Mishustin said.
