Kremlin knows about high level of Putin's support not only based on sociological surveys - Peskov

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is aware of the high level of confidence that Russians have in President Vladimir Putin, and this is evident not only from sociological surveys but also from appeals by citizens, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"You know that we normally try not to comment on the findings of sociological surveys, but we know that the level of support for the president, for the president's decisions, and his actions is very, very high, we feel that from people's appeals, from their words of support and particular actions," Peskov told journalists on Wednesday, when asked to comment on findings obtained by the Public Opinion Foundation showing a high level of the Russian citizens' confidence in Putin.

Peskov also mentioned the reaction from Russian parliamentarians even before the recognition of the Donbas republics, calling this "a mirror of our society in many respects."

"And indeed, the level of the president's support is truly high, and of course, this consolidation around the president at such a difficult moment requiring great responsibility is very important, and this gives all of us strength," he said.

Asked whether the president is aware of these findings, Peskov replied, "You know that Putin always feels people, he always feels citizens, and he leans on their support, and of course, he draws energy from this support."
