Putin's words about history of formation of Ukrainian borders should not be applied to other former Soviet republics - Peskov

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements on how the borders of today's Ukraine were formed should not be applied to the other former Soviet republics, Putin will be ready to answer journalists' questions on this matter, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov said Putin's words in his February 21 address to the people of Russia on how Soviet Ukraine was formed cannot be applied to other Soviet republics, in particular, to Kazakhstan. "No, it doesn't apply," he said.

"We cannot make this into historical discussion platform now, no matter how much we want to. [...] I hope you will have an opportunity to ask these extra questions at some future press conferences and meetings of the president with the press," Peskov said.
