Russian forces take full control of Kherson - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian military has reported taking full control of the Ukrainian city of Kherson.

"Russian forces have taken full control of the Kherson regional center," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

The civilian and critical infrastructure and city transport are operating as usual, Konashenkov said. "The city has no deficit of food and essentials," he added.

"Negotiations are continuing between the Russian command and the regional and city administrations to discuss the functioning of social infrastructure and the provision of law, order and public security," Konashenkov said.

Kherson is located on the western bank of the Dnipro River, not far from the Dnipro estuary of the Black Sea. This is the largest marine and river port on the Dnipro, and the administrative and industrial center of the Kherson region.
