Closure of U.S. airspace for Russia also to affect charter flights - U.S. Department of Transportation

WASHINGTON. March 2 (Interfax) - The closure of the United States airspace for Russian aircraft will also be applied to charter flights, the U.S. Department of Transportation said in a statement.

The ban will affect all aircraft, including those operated, registered and certified in Russia, "as well as charter flights," it said.

As reported, U.S. President Joe Biden announced the closure of U.S. airspace for all Russian flights.

"Tonight I am announcing that we will join our allies in closing American airspace to all Russian flights," Biden said.

Previously, Russian flights have been banned in the airspace of the European Union and Canada, and Russia has undertaken tit-for-tat measures.
