Putin tops rating of most frequently mentioned persons with record 608,179 mentions in Russian media in Feb - SCAN

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin is the undisputed leader in the rating of the most frequently mentioned persons in the press, as he has received a record 608,179 mentions in Russian political, financial and economic media publications in February, according to data from the System of Comprehensive News Analysis (SCAN) created by Interfax.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was mentioned 185,428 times in the media in February, took second place in the rating amid developments around Donbas. United States President Joe Biden remained in third place (148,530 mentions).

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov moved up to the fourth position on the top ten of the most mentioned persons, having received 96,824 mentions.

Next in the top 10, according to SCAN, are the key figures in the diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (fifth place, 70,826 mentions), French President Emmanuel Macron (sixth place, 62,311 mentions), the Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko (seventh place, 57,927 mentions), the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (ninth place, 40,876 mentions).

Meanwhile, head of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin, who signed the agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between Russia and the DPR in the Kremlin on February 21, ranked eighth in the rating (48,703 mentions).

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova closed the February top 10 of the SCAN rating with 38,840 mentions.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and former Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken dropped out of the top 10.

SCAN ratings are based on the number of documents mentioning a certain person over a certain period received from the national and regional press, news agencies, specialist and industry publications, television and radio, and websites.
