EU permanent representatives agree on RT's, Sputnik's broadcast ban in EU

PARIS. March 2 (Interfax) - The Committee of Permanent Representatives to the European Union in Brussels (Coreper) has permitted the EU member states to prohibit the broadcasting of Sputnik and RT in the EU, France's presidency of the EU Council said on Tuesday.

"Tonight, COREPER II approved [...] a ban on the broadcasting of Sputnik and RT in the EU," France's presidency of the EU Council said on Twitter.

Additionally, Coreper agreed on Tuesday on a proposal for an EU Council decision on "a ban on participating in or contributing to projects co-financed by the Russian Direct Investment Fund [RDIF]."

Following the EU Council's formal approval and the publication of its resolutions in the EU Official Journal, these measures will take effect.
