BMW halts production in Kaliningrad, shipments of automobiles to Russia from abroad

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The German automaker Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW) has announced that it is halting the manufacturing of its automobiles at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad and shipments of its products to the Russian market from abroad.

"In view of the current geopolitical situation, BMW Group suspends supplies to the Russian market, as well as the local production of automobiles. Further decisions will be made depending on the development of the situation," BMW's Russian office told Interfax.

"At the present time, we are working on solutions that, amid limited supplies of spare parts, will enable us to fully honor our warranty obligations to the customers. We will also continue to provide maintenance services for our customers' automobiles in compliance with all BMW Group standards," it said.
