MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke by telephone with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Peter Maurer, on Tuesday.

"During their exchange of views on the situation in Ukraine, special attention was paid to the challenges of addressing its humanitarian problems," the Russian Foreign Ministry's website stated.

"The sides discussed Russia's further cooperation with the ICRC, while reaffirming the intention to develop a constructive and substantive dialogue across a wide spectrum of crisis response matters," it said.

The pair "also exchanged views on the ICRC's further role in the South Caucasus," the ministry said.
