Peskov declines to assess Russian operation in Ukraine, directs question to Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has directed a request for assessment of the results of the Russian military operation in Ukraine to the Russian Defense Ministry.

"I have said on multiple occasions that we are not authorized to give any assessments. The progress of the military campaign and the special operation is not our area. This is the exclusive prerogative of the Defense Ministry. I suggest that you ask them for comment," Peskov said in response to a question how the Kremlin would assess the results of the military operation.

As to the casualties sustained by Russia in the course of the operation, Peskov said, "We do not have this information. [...] In this case, I do not have any information."

He said journalists should wait "until the end of the operation."
