Lavrov urges U.S., allies to abide by obligations on indivisible security principle

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Moscow is calling on Washington and its allies to abide by their obligations on the indivisible security principle. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Our Western partners have not yet displayed a willingness to offer Russia lasting legally-binding security guarantees," Lavrov said in a video address to the participants in a Conference on Disarmament meeting in Geneva on Tuesday.

"The attainment of these goals is a matter of principle for us," Lavrov said. "Apart from that, I am calling on the United States, its allies, and clients once again to strictly abide by their international obligations not to strengthen their own security at someone else's cost," Lavrov said.

"This would help normalize the military-political situation in the Euro-Atlantic area," he said.
