Kyiv's desire to acquire nuclear weapons is dangerous play - Lavrov

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - Russia cannot ignore the irresponsible statements of Kyiv about possible deployment of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, which is a real danger, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"Nowadays, the danger posed by the Zelensky regime to neighboring countries and international security as such has palpably grown after the Kyiv authorities started playing a dangerous game and planning the acquisition of nuclear weapons," Lavrov said in a video link to the Geneva Disarmament Conference.

"Such irresponsible statements are not mere bravado. Ukraine possesses Soviet nuclear technologies and delivery means for such weapons. We cannot ignore this real danger," Lavrov said.
