Over 60 participants in unsanctioned rally in St. Petersburg arrested, over 300 fined

ST. PETERSBURG. March 1 (Interfax) - At least 650 participants in an unsanctioned rally, which took place in St. Petersburg on February 27, have been detained.

The joint press service of St. Petersburg courts said on Monday that 661 motions regarding rally participants were lodged with district courts, and rulings were given in 430 cases as of 10 p.m.

According to the press service, more than 60 people have been arrested (for up to 15 days), more than 310 have been fined (up to 20,000 rubles), and two have been ordered to perform community service (up to 40 hours).

The court dismissed 13 motions, delayed the processing of four, and sent 34 motions back to investigators for fixing mistakes.

The motions are processed in 15 out of 22 district courts in St. Petersburg.
