Hybrid war with regular cyberattacks being waged against Russia - Roskomnadzor

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The duty services of the Public Communications Network Monitoring and Control Center, which is subordinate to the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor), jointly with their counterparts from the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents, which was set up by the Federal Security Service, have been put on high alert to repel attacks on critical infrastructure, Roskomnadzor told Interfax.

"The Public Communications Network Monitoring and Control Center duty services have been put on high alert, interacting with the National Coordination Center for Computer Incidents to counter attacks on critical information infrastructure. Prompt informing of telecommunications operators about information security incidents and coordination of their activities to counter threats to the stability, integrity and security of the public communications network is ensured," the telecoms regulator said.

"A hybrid war is currently being waged against Russia that includes elements of information confrontation as well as regular cyberattacks," it said.

"If the operation of the websites of pivotal Russian media outlets is being disrupted, then information security specialists are responsible for resolving the issue," Roskomnadzor said.
