Peaceful Ukrainians 'victims of Ukrainian spin doctors' - Kremlin

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Peaceful Ukrainian citizens do not have reliable information about Russia's special military operation and are becoming victims of Kyiv's spin doctors, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

A journalist attending Peskov's conference call on Monday said that some employees of the Russian presidential administration must have relatives in Ukraine, and they are keeping in touch with them. In this context, the journalist said, "We know a large number of our relatives in Ukraine who present a picture with their own evidence that is the opposite of what we have been hearing in the Defense Ministry's press releases."

Peskov said in response that "not only employees of the presidential administration, but probably the overwhelming majority of the population across Russia have friends, relatives, near and distant relatives, etc. who live in Ukraine."

"Naturally, the hearts of all people go out to their relatives because of what is happening to them," he said.

"From my experience, I can say that, indeed, even those who are now hiding in the basements, etc. very often become victims of military nationalistic formations, which really use them as a shield. These people do not know the actual situation and are becoming victims of Ukrainian spin doctors," Peskov said.
