Kremlin refers question on 'possible casualties' among Russian troops in Ukraine to Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 28 (Interfax) - In commenting on the Ukrainian government's address to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to facilitate the repatriation of the bodies of Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Monday that nobody approached Moscow on the matter.

"Nobody has addressed the Russian Federation," Peskov told journalists, when asked whether Moscow would react anyhow to Kyiv's address.

"As for possible casualties, this question is for the Defense Ministry, and the Defense Ministry is handling this," he said.

Asked whether Russia would contact the ICRC on the matter, Peskov replied, "As far as I know, there have been no addresses for the time being. As for the future and as for whether it makes sense to involve the Red Cross, I can't say anything."
