Russian military reports air defense preparedness check at base in Tajikistan

YEKATERINBURG. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The combat preparedness of Russia's S-300PS air defense systems has been checked and electronic missile launches have been performed at the Russian military base in Tajikistan, the Central Military District reported on Monday.

"The Russian military base in Tajikistan has undergone an air defense preparedness check. An S-300PS air defense missile battalion was put on alert," the district press service said.

According to the exercise scenario, the base detected high-speed targets of a mock enemy.

"The crews detected and locked the targets and performed electronic launches of guided air defense missiles at targets simulating advanced air attack weapons of a mock enemy flying from various directions and at various altitudes," the press service said.

The crews complied with S-300PS missile loading standards, while security and defense forces trained deterrence of an attack of mock saboteurs and reconnaissance teams at combat positions, it said.
