Russia interested in reaching agreement with Ukraine as soon as possible - Medinsky

MINSK. Feb 28 (Interfax) - Russia is interested in quickly reaching agreements with Ukraine and putting an end to deaths in the Ukrainian territory, Russian presidential aide, head of the Russian delegation to talks with Ukrainian representatives in Belarus Vladimir Medinsky told reporters on Monday.

"Every hour of the conflict means deaths of Ukrainian citizens, Ukrainian soldiers so, of course, we are interested in reaching agreements as soon as possible. There is no doubt that the agreements should meet the interests of both parties," the Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA quoted Medinsky as saying.

He also noted that the Russian delegation arrived at the talks' venue in the Gomel region in the evening on February 27. The meeting venue was coordinated with the Ukrainian side, it is close to the Ukrainian border.

"We were up all night waiting for the arrival of the Ukrainian delegation. Unfortunately, the logistics are very complicated, and the arrival time has been repeatedly delayed. We have just been informed they will arrive in an hour. Therefore, we will sit down for talks at noon," Medinsky said.
