EU to ban RT, Sputnik, their subsidiaries from broadcasting in EU territory - von der Leyen

BRUSSELS. Feb 27 (Interfax) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement in Brussels on Sunday that the European Union will ban the RT and Sputnik television channels and their subsidiaries from broadcasting across its territory.

The EU will ban RT, Sputnik and their subsidiaries so that they will no longer be able to "spread lies" and disinformation and to sow division within the EU, von der Leyen said.

The European Commission is now developing tools to ban them, she said.
