EU closing its airspace to all Russian planes - European Commission president

BRUSSELS. Feb 27 (Interfax) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement on Sunday that the European Union is closing its airspace to all Russian airplanes, including private jets.

"We are shutting down the EU airspace for Russians. We are proposing a prohibition on all Russia-owned, Russia-registered and Russia-controlled aircraft. These aircraft will no more be able to land in, take off or overfly the territory of the European Union," she said.

"Our airspace will be closed to every Russian plane, and that includes the private jets of oligarchs, too," von der Leyen said.
