Medvedchuk moved to safe place in Kyiv due to radicals' threats - lawyer

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada member Viktor Medvedchuk of the Opposition Platform - For Life faction has been evacuated to a safe place in Kyiv due to a threat to his life, his defense team said.

"In light of an actual threat to his life, as well as the need to protect him, Viktor Medvedchuk has been evacuated to a safe place in Kyiv where he continues performing the procedural duties imposed on him by the court," the politician's Telegram channel quoted lawyer Larisa Cherednichenko as saying.

"The leader of the politician's personal guard warned the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine on Thursday about the threats he had received from radical nationalist groups," Medvedchuk's defense team said.

"The defense team possesses materials about an actual threat to Viktor Medvedchuk's life and health which will be presented to the court and the investigators under the current legislation," it said.
