Kyiv agreed on talks in Belarus' Gomel region on situation in Ukraine - Russian presidential aide Medinsky

MINSK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Ukraine has agreed on talks with Russia in Belarus' Gomel region over the military operation situation, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said.

"Literally at about three o'clock, we received information from the Ukrainian side about the interest and confirmation of the negotiations. The talks will take place in the Gomel region, as we suggested," Medinsky said on the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel on Sunday.

"The Russian delegation stands ready to negotiate at any time of the day or night in order to achieve peace," he said.

Medinsky added that the Russian delegation is currently moving from Minsk to the Gomel region to the negotiating venue.

"Now we are working on the route, choosing the most optimal place in the Gomel region, where the utmost security for the Ukrainian side will be ensured," the Russian presidential aide said.

"For our part, we guarantee 100% security of the route and travel and will wait for the delegation of the Ukrainian administration at this place," Medinsky said.

He did not disclose the composition of the Ukrainian delegation and the plan for talks.
