FSB reports preventing terror attack in Kaluga region
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) has reported preventing a terror attack in the Kaluga region; the person who planned it has been detained and confessed about his ties to the ISIL terrorist organization which is banned in Russia.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has prevented a terror attack against a facility and law enforcement officers of the Kaluga region. As result of measures taken, a Central Asian country citizen, who was preparing it at an instruction of militants from the ISIL international terrorist organization banned in Russia, was detained," the FSB Public Relations Center told Interfax.
According to the FSB, components for an improvised explosive device, explosives and striking elements were seized from a cache in the immediate vicinity from the detainee's rental.
Texts from members of terrorist entities "exposing his criminal intent" was found in his cell phone.
"The detained man made a confession. A procedural decision is being made," the FSB said.
