MIT, Skoltech terminate cooperation over Ukrainian situation

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Cooperation between Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will be terminated at the MIT request, while each institute will make decisions on the further work on joint projects after preliminary reports are compiled, Skoltech told Interfax.

"As of now, Skoltech and MIT have nine three-year projects. The projects were launched in mid-2020. According to the projects' schedule, both Skoltech and MIT will make preliminary reports at the end of February. Based on these reports each side will make a decision on the further support of these projects," Skoltech said.

"The official agreement will be terminated at the MIT request," it said.

MIT announced terminating cooperation with Skoltech over the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. The decision was made by MIT President Rafael Reif. On February 25, MIT sent a "notice to Skoltech that MIT is exercising its right to terminate the MIT Skoltech Program."
