Russia closing its airspace for Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Slovenian airlines

MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Russia is closing its airspace for Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian and Slovenian airlines, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency said.

"Due to unfriendly decisions of the air authorities of Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Estonia, restrictions for flying to destinations on the Russian territory, including transit flights through the Russian airspace, are imposed for airlines of the aforementioned countries," the agency said.

The decision has come as a response to the ban for Russian aircraft to fly to and from the territory of these countries.

Russian airlines are flying to Kaliningrad as usual, despite the ban imposed by Lithuania, it said. "Russian airlines will use air routes over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea for flights to this region," the agency said.

"The flight time will grow, and owning to this changes in flight schedules are possible," it said.
