Russia to respond symmetrically if West's threats to arrest Russians' assets in foreign countries come true - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Russia will respond symmetrically if the West's threats to arrest the assets of all Russians in foreign countries come true, and assets of foreigners and foreign companies will be arrested according to the country principle, Russian Security Council deputy head Dmitry Medvedev said.

Medvedev, who came under sanctions, commented on new restrictions against Russia and its leadership on its VK page.

"They are also threatening to arrest money of Russian citizens and Russian companies abroad. Just like this, without any sanctions. All of them. Athwart. And such things should be responded quite symmetrically, by arresting assets of foreigners and foreign companies in Russia according to the country principle, and maybe by nationalizing the property of those who are registered in unfriendly jurisdictions, for example the United States, EU member states and a number of Anglo-Saxon states that sing in tune and will take part," Medvedev said.

"Fortunately we have vast experience and the law to this end. A strict one. So, the most interesting things are just beginning...," he said.
