NPCS to ensure sanctioned banks' Mastercard, Visa cards continue working in Russia

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The National Payment Cards System (NPCS) will make sure that the Visa and Mastercard cards issued by the sanctioned banks continue being used in Russia, except for Apple Pay and Google Pay, the company's press service told Interfax on Saturday.

"It is expected that Apple Pay and Google Pay operations will be unavailable for international payment cards issued by the sanctioned banks (VTB, BM Bank, SarovBusinessBank, Otkritie, Sovcombank, Novikombank, RGS Bank). But all transactions of payment for purchases and goods, including Internet shopping, will be available to clients as usual, with a bank card, using both contact and contactless technology," the NPCS said.

Holders of these cards will not be able to use them abroad, the press service said.
