Russia bans Romanian airline companies from its airspace - Rosaviatsia

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Russia has closed its airspace to Romanian airline companies, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) stated on Saturday.

"Due to the unfriendly decision by Romania's aviation authorities, it was decided to impose restrictions on air carriers from the Republic of Romania and/or those registered therein, carrying out regular flights to Russian destinations, including transit flights through Russia's airspace," the statement said.

The decision was made in response to a Romanian ban on Russian aircraft making regular flights in/from Romania.

"Flights from Romania will only be allowed upon special permission by Rosaviatsia or the Russian Foreign Ministry," the agency said.
