Over 60 Ukrainians cross into Belgorod region

BELGOROD. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The number of Ukrainian refugees has increased, Belgorod region governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said.

"The number of people coming from Ukraine is beginning to increase. For example, yesterday, the head of Veidelevsky district reported that 55 people had come onto our territory over two days, mainly relatives and friends of the people living in our Belgorod region," Gladkov wrote on Instagram on Saturday.

"We check, and they go away to their relatives. Overnight, more than ten people arrived into the region. They were sent away to a temporary accommodation center. We are prepared for any scenario and ready to help anyone, if necessary," the governor said.

The night passed without any incident, he said.

"According to our regional operational headquarters which is working 24/7, the night was fairly quiet, incident-free," Gladkov said.

The regional police and emergency services were put on high alert due to the events in Ukraine. Access to all social facilities and vital infrastructure has been further restricted, counter-terrorism measures are in place.
