Northern Fleet conducts military infrastructure defense drill in Murmansk region

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Naval infantry units and a separate motorized infantry brigade of the army corps of the Northern Fleet have begun an exercise in defending the fleet's critical military installations in the Murmansk region.

"Naval infantrymen and motor riflemen will deploy in standard issue vehicles from their bases to assigned areas to practice set tasks," the fleet stated on Friday.

The exercise will last several days, it said.

"One of the purposes of training is to test the mobility of the coastal defense units and their readiness to accomplish tasks on emergency instructions," the statement said.
