Peskov on relocation of Champions League final: St. Petersburg could have provided best conditions

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The Kremlin expressed regret about the relocation of the UEFA Champions League final from St. Petersburg.

Commenting at the request of journalists on the decision to relocate the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said: "It's a pity, of course, that such a decision has been made."

"St. Petersburg could have provided the best conditions; pleasant, comfortable conditions for the organization of this football celebration," Peskov said. "But a decision has been made, it means it has been decided," Peskov said.

Responding to a follow-up question as to whether the Kremlin considers this decision to be politicization of sports, Peskov said: "No, I didn't say that. I expressed regret."
