Russia to manage import substitution of semiconductors - Peskov

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The restrictions imposed on Russia concerning the import of semiconductors will create problems, but solutions exist, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"This dependence has been gradually reduced in the past few years. The main purpose amid the constantly continuing new sanctions was to ensure, if need be, full self-sufficiency and full import substitution. This goal has largely been achieved," Peskov told reporters on Friday, responding to a question as to how much the nuclear, military and space industries now depend on foreign semiconductors and chips.

"Where it has not been fully achieved there is the potential for rapid achievement. Therefore, there is no doubt that there will be problems, but they are not unsolvable," Peskov said.
