UEFA relocates 2022 Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has decided to hold the 2022 Champions League final in Paris, the UEFA press service said.

The game was initially scheduled to be held in Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg.

"The UEFA Executive Committee today held an extraordinary meeting following the grave escalation of the security situation in Europe. The UEFA Executive Committee decided to relocate the final of the 2021/22 UEFA Men's Champions League from Saint Petersburg to the Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The game will be played as initially scheduled on Saturday 28 May at 21:00 CET," the report said.

St. Petersburg was earlier scheduled to host the Champions League final in 2021, but UEFA made changes due to the coronavirus pandemic, as a result of which the Russian city received the right to host the final in the next season.
