Russia receives 10,000 children from Donbas republics

MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Ten thousand children from the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics, half of whom are schoolchildren, have arrived to stay in Russia, the Russian Education Ministry said.

"Ten thousand children from the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics have come to Russia. Half of them are schoolchildren. A volunteer has been assigned to every child. Some of the children have resumed studies in Rostov and in Voronezh. And from February 28, a maximum number of Donbas children will sit at school desks in Russia," the Education Ministry said.

"It is very important to understand how many children can arrive additionally so to plan their accommodation and the learning process. We will organize the training of teachers and will do everything for students and their parents to feel like home here," Russian Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said on the Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television channel.

The ministry said earlier that it had sent psychologists from federal teacher training universities to the regions receiving the families that arrive from the Donbas republics.
