Macron says he asked Putin for talks at Zelensky's request
BRUSSELS. Feb 25 (Interfax) - French President Emmanuel Macron has said that he passed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's request for peace talks on to Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call with him on Thursday.
"I had a sincere, direct and quick conversation with President Putin at the request of President Zelensky in order to first of all ask him to stop fighting as soon as possible, but particularly to offer him talks, to ask him for talks with President Zelensky," Macron said at a press conference in Brussels in the early hours of Friday, following an extraordinary summit of the European Union.
