Denmark given explanations about goals of Russian operation in Ukraine - embassy
MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin has given the host country explanations of the goals of the current Russian operation in Ukraine, the embassy told Interfax on Thursday.
"On February 22 and 24 Ambassador Barbin was summoned by the Danish Foreign Ministry over the events in Ukraine. During the ensuing conversations the Danish side set out its government's critical position on Russia's actions," the statement said.
Barbin noted said that the events were a result of Kyiv sabotaging its obligations to honor the Minsk agreements. "This was in no small degree condoned by Western countries. The Danish side was given explanations about Russia's goals in the framework of the current special military operation," the embassy said.
Earlier the Danish Foreign Ministry said it had summoned the Russian ambassador after President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine on Thursday evening.
