More than 93,000 refugees from DPR, LPR are in Rostov region - United Russia General Council secretary

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - More than 93,000 refugees from the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republic have been placed in temporary accommodation facilities in the Rostov region, United Russia General Council Secretary Andrei Turchak said.

"I have just returned from Rostov, which is taking the main flow of refugees. We visited a whole number of temporary accommodation facilities, more than half of the refugees are children. More than 93,000 people are now kept in temporary accommodation facilities," Turchak said at a meeting on the construction of kindergartens and schools attended by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova.

Parents who have come from the republics are having problems putting their children in schools, he said. "Parents want to put their children in schools and kindergartens. That concerns all regions where residents of Donbas are going. They need to collect documents and school supplies. Clearly, the people who are far from their home can't collect the necessary package of documents and supplies even with help from volunteers. In this regard, I suggest ordering he education minister and the regions to promptly solve this problem," Turchak said.

Golikova, for her part, said she will discuss with the regions issues relating to the accommodation of refugees, including putting children in schools, on Thursday.
