Police to detain illegal demonstrators for provocations, aggression against officers - Interior Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The Russian Interior Ministry has warned that it will detain participants in unpermitted demonstrations for provocative or aggressive actions against police officers.

"The Russian Interior Ministry warns that any provocative actions, aggression toward police officers, and failure to obey their legitimate demands will be immediately prevented. People committing such offences will be detained and held liable," the ministry said on Thursday.

The Interior Ministry's local offices have been receiving reports on calls on the Internet for unpermitted public events in a number of regions across Russia, it said.

"Offices of the Russian Interior Ministry and other law enforcement agencies are in full control of the situation around the country and will take all the necessary measures to maintain law and order," it said.
