FSB reports large number of Ukrainian border guards quitting jobs, crossing into Russia

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - Ukrainian border guards have arrived at checkpoints on the Russian border in the Bryansk region and Crimea, having quit their jobs in Ukraine, the Federal Security Service (FSB)'s public relations center said.

"Ukrainian border guards have quit their jobs and are arriving on the territory of the Russian Federation. Twenty-six officers of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine came to the Troyebortnoye checkpoint of the FSB border department in the Bryansk region at 11:15 a.m., upon refusing to continue their service in the Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, 16 officers of the Ukrainian State Border Service quit their service on Ukrainian territory and came to the Dzhankoi checkpoint of the border department in Crimea at 12:10 p.m., the FSB said.
