Scheduled exercise of peacekeepers begins in Transdniestria - Russia's Western Military District

MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The Operative Group of Russian Forces in Transdniestria have held an exercise into the special training of peacekeepers, the press service of the Western Military District said in a statement.

"Motorized infantry units of the Operative Group of Russian Forces in the Transdniestrian Region of the Republic of Moldova held a practical exercise into the special training of the Russian peacekeeping contingent," the statement said.

Russian peacekeepers drilled the compulsory stopping of a vehicle using a spike strip after which an imaginary enemy offered armed resistance, it said.

"Personnel took firing positions and detained the imaginary enemy, as well as thwarted an attempt of bringing banned things to the security zone," it said.

This was a scheduled exercise, it said.
