EU restricts operations with Russian government, CBR securities
BRUSSELS. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The European Union has imposed restrictions on transactions with the securities of the Russian government and Central Bank as part of a new package of sanctions against Russia published early Thursday morning.
The sanctions prohibit the direct or indirect purchase or sale, direct or indirect provision of investment services, assistance in the issue or another other deal with transferable securities issued after March 9, 2022 by Russia, its government and Central Bank, the document posted in the Official Journal of the EU said.
Provision of new loans to the Russian government and Central Bank is prohibited effective February 23.
