Zelensky to consider Foreign Ministry's proposal of breaking off diplomatic relations with Russia

KYIV. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will explore the option of breaking off diplomatic relations with Russia.

"The Foreign Ministry has proposed that I consider the possibility of breaking off diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Russia. Right after this press conference, I will explore this possibility, alongside our effective response to the escalation by Russia," Zelensky said at a press conference after talks with Estonian President Alar Karis in Kyiv on Tuesday.

"Russia lays a legal foundation for an armed aggression against Ukraine by recognizing the so-called L/DPR; it also breaks every bilateral and multilateral obligation deriving from the UN Security Council resolution on Ukraine dated February 17, 2015," Zelensky said.
