Russian troops kill 5 members of sabotage group who crossed from Ukraine - Southern Military District

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Five members of a sabotage and reconnaissance group who infiltrated Russian territory from Ukraine have been killed, the Russian Southern Federal District said.

"Five violators of the Russian Federation's border from a sabotage and reconnaissance group were eliminated in an armed clash," it said.

"No Russian Armed Forces and Federal Security Service members have been hurt," it said.

A border detail detected a reconnaissance and sabotage group crossing into Russia near the community of Mityakinskaya in the Rostov region at about 6:00 a.m. Moscow Time on February 21, it said.

"To detain the sabotage group, the FSB border detail requested reinforcements from a formation of the Russian Armed Forces Southern Military District tasked with protecting the border," it said.

"During an armed clash, two Ukrainian Armed Forces infantry fighting vehicles crossed the Russian border from Ukraine to urgently evacuate the sabotage group. A Russian military unit that promptly arrived at the armed clash scene destroyed both Ukrainian infantry fighting vehicles with antitank systems," it said.
