Duma Council working on 2 drafts of resolution on recognition of Donbas republics - source

MOSCOW. Feb 14 (Interfax) - The State Duma Council is planning to prepare two drafts of a resolution, which will urge the Russian president to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Donbas republics and will be considered at a plenary meeting of the house, an informed source told Interfax on Monday.

"The Duma Council is expected to present two drafts of a resolution, which will urge the president to recognize the [Donetsk People's Republic] DPR and the [Luhansk People's Republic] LPR, for consideration at the State Duma plenary meeting on Tuesday," the source said.

The first draft was submitted to the State Duma by Communist Party deputies; it envisages the immediate submission of the draft to the president following its possible approval by the house.

The second draft was proposed by United Russia deputies. This draft stipulates the direction of the call to the president for recognizing the self-proclaimed republics' independence to the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, and other respective agencies.

"Both documents will be presented for consideration at the Duma plenary meeting on Tuesday," the source said.
